From the South
The three pillars of Freemasonry are denoted Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty; it being necessary that there should be Wisdom to contrive, Strength to support, and Beauty to adorn all great and important undertakings. As the Junior Warden of this Lodge, beauty falls to me.
My primary focus this year is our Lodge building. As with all things, age has taken its toll and our building is in need of many repairs. To accomplish this goal, I have initiated a series of fund raisers to obtain funds to make these repairs, thus living up to the example of that illustrious Masonic figure whose job it was to call the craft from labor to refreshment and from refreshment to labor again. Another goal for the year is to bring the Lodge into the 21st century. Our new web site, which you have obviously found, is but one step in accomplishing that goal.
Speaking of refreshment, another one of my responsibilities is providing meals before our Masonic work. I’ve teamed up with Electa Chapter #51, Order of the Eastern Star to accomplish this mission. Feel free to come to our Lodge at 6:00PM on any meeting (1st Wed of the month), or degree work night and break bread with us. Our dress code is Slacks and a collared shirt. Please do not wear shorts or sandals to Lodge.
Much of the symbolism in our craft is found in our ritual. I am proud to say that our Lodge has some of the best ritual work in the area. We hold practice every Tuesday at 5:00PM. Practice lasts about an hour and focus on whatever degree work we have upcoming. Additionally, we open our Lodge every Wednesday, when we don’t have work scheduled, to conduct Masonic education, or just enjoy the friendship and brotherly love of the Lodge.
Fraternally,
Bro. Phillip R. Shulsky, Junior Warden
