On January 5, 2025, Sunrise Assembly No. 39 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls proudly held its induction ceremony, welcoming four new members into the fold. With these new additions, the assembly now boasts a total of 16 active members.

The induction ceremony marks a significant milestone for both the new members and the assembly, as the girls officially embark on their journey through the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (Rainbow). Rainbow is a philanthropic and leadership organization designed for girls aged 10-20, providing them with the opportunity to develop essential skills such as leadership, communication, and organization.

The organization’s motto, “Rainbow Gets Girls Ready for Life!”, reflects its core mission of preparing girls for the challenges and opportunities they will face in the future. Through Rainbow, members learn how to lead, communicate effectively, and serve their communities—skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

A key element of the initiation process involves the Seven Lessons, which each new member receives during their ceremony. These lessons are symbolized by the colors of the rainbow, with each color representing an important value and guiding principle that Rainbow Girls are encouraged to carry with them throughout their lives.

Red: Love - The Sister of Love reminds us that love is the foundation of all relationships, teaching us to love others unconditionally, even in the face of faults and challenges.

Orange: Religion - The Sister of Religion highlights the importance of faith in one’s life, emphasizing that a belief in something greater than oneself helps guide us through life’s trials.

Yellow: Nature - The Sister of Nature encourages a deep connection to the environment and reminds us to care for the world around us for future generations.

Green: Immortality - The Sister of Immortality teaches us to accept death as a part of life, offering solace and support through grief and the idea of an afterlife.

Blue: Fidelity - The Sister of Fidelity focuses on the importance of honesty and reliability, reminding us to always keep our promises and be trustworthy.

Indigo: Patriotism - The Sister of Patriotism speaks to our responsibility to serve our country and respect its ideals, whether through civic engagement or, when necessary, military service.

Violet: Service - The Sister of Service reminds us that true fulfillment comes from helping others, both in large and small ways, and that service is an ongoing commitment in our lives.

In addition to the Seven Lessons, the girls also learn the values of Faith, Hope, and Charity—three principles that serve as the foundation for the Rainbow experience. The Sisters of

Faith, Hope, and Charity guide the girls through the challenges of life, teaching them to have faith in themselves, to remain hopeful in difficult times, and to act with charity toward others.

The addition of four new members to Sunrise Assembly No. 39 signifies the growth and strength of the assembly, which continues to make a positive impact in the community. As these new members take their first steps into the world of Rainbow, they are supported by the knowledge that they are joining an organization that not only helps them grow as individuals but also encourages them to give back to their communities.

Rainbow Girls across Arizona have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity in the past few years, a testament to the dedication of its members. The lessons learned through the organization are not just valuable today but will continue to shape the lives of the girls well into adulthood, with alumni crediting the program for helping them in their careers and personal lives.

With 16 members strong, Sunrise Assembly No. 39 is poised for an exciting year of growth, leadership, and service, as the new members join their fellow Rainbow Girls in making a meaningful difference in the world around them.
